Principal engineer Mark W. Thompson founded Marathon Technical Services LLC in 1996 after serving more than 20 years as an engineer in the private and public sectors in Marathon County.

At MTS, we are all about offering you the very best civil engineering design services along with the critical technical support needed to maintain your utility operations. Whether it’s a storm water management plan or help with regulatory compliance, our seasoned staff is there to assist.

Our engineers are the local sewer and water experts, with more than 30 years of combined experience with sewer and water utilities in central Wisconsin. In that time, we have assisted in the planning, design, operation and maintenance of numerous projects in Wausau, Rib Mountain, Rothschild, Schofield, Kronenwetter and Weston.

We also have played an active role in the growth of our communities. We have worked on over 20 residential subdivisions ranging in size from 12 to 400 lots. We are also active in commercial-multifamily storm water and site plans, flood elevation determinations and street re-construction projects.
